Vdex-40 Embedded Asterisk* IP-PBX

A truly affordable IP-PBX (VoIP telephone system) for the SOHO (Small Office Home Office) market, the Vdex-40 is an Asterisk-based IP-PBX appliance that will support up to 35 telephones.  For higher reliability, Vdex-40 is a fully embedded system using flash memory, without spinning hard disk drives or noisy fans which are prone to mechanical failure.  It features four built-in FXO ports for direct connection to POTS lines from the CO (phone company) and can support additional lines using SIP trunking.

Highlights

  • Embedded appliance using flash memory
  • Browser / Web based administration
  • 4 FXO (telephone) lines built-in
  • SIP trunking support (6 provider accounts)
  • 35 SIP telephone extensions (same codec)
  • Hardware based voice codecs
  • Hardware based echo cancellation
  • Remote extensions
  • Multiple location connectivity
  • Automated Attendant(s)
  • Voicemail (18 hours)
  • Voicemail to E-mail forwarding
  • Conferencing (8 participants)
  • Time-based call routing
  • Call statistics
  • Asterisk-based flexibility

Compared to traditional phone systems, Vdex-40 can do so much more than simply receive calls, put callers on hold and transfer.  Standard features include: multiple automated attendants, conference bridges, remote extensions, multi-location bridging, mobile extensions with laptop soft phones and voice mail forwarding to e-mail.  Try asking any non-Asterisk based system to do the same, especially at a small office price!

While the Vdex-40 was designed for the SOHO market, it still maintains the same flexibility and extensibility as other Asterisk based systems, but it offers much more at a much better price: four built-in FXO ports for phone lines, hardware based codecs with G.711, G.723.1, G.726 and G.729a/b, hardware based G.168 echo cancellation and most importantly two different processors for separate handling of call processing from voice processing.

Supported SIP phones include: Polycom, Snom (Preferred) and CounterPath (free softphone).

Supported IAX phones include: ZoIPer (free softphone - Preferred phone for remote access)

Supported PoE switches / hubs include: Airlink, Cisco, D-link and Linksys.

Amanda *Star PBX

Amanda *Star PBX is The Amanda Company's version of Asterisk, the open source PBX.  Asterisk is the world's leading open source telephony engine software, and arguably, the world's leading telephone system.  Open source software is free to download, use, and to customize.  Hence there are now literally thousands of programmers continuously implementing new features, extending capabilities, and innovating the system, bringing ever evolving benefits to the market for anyone to use.  Google it and see for yourself!

Imagine installing the last telephone system you will ever need.

Virtually any communication capability you have experienced is likely to have already been implemented by someone, somewhere with Asterisk.  If you have imagined something new, or especially creative for your situation, Asterisk's extensibility and open source approach allows you to develop it or have it developed as you would want it.  Try asking one of those Telecom Giants to do that for you!

Amanda *Star PBX combines the Asterisk system with an Amanda designed, browser-based GUI.  There are also many extensions that make installing, administrating, and customizing your Amanda *Star PBX easier, more sensible, and most importantly, as you might expect with a telephone system rather than a computer program.  Extensions such as:

  • Shared Line Appearances on supported SIP phones for easier hold - announce - call pick-up
  • Plug-and-Play Auto-Provisioning of supported SIP phones, including Cisco, Polycom, Mitel, Snom and Aastra phones
  • Full Extension Mobility allows you to on-the-fly map an extension to any phone so now your calls are not chained to your desk phone
  • Time-based Routing gives you automatic control of your usual routines for handling incoming calls not only for your business but also to individual extensions
  • Web-based User Managed Access for customized, automatic, or, on-the-fly changes for call routing, voicemail access and extension mobility at the individual level

And with Amanda *Star PBX you are not constrained by specific hardware, phones, or even service providers.  You can use any of the hundreds of already available SIP phones on the market, any PC platform you want (although we think ours is pretty good!), and even any telephone lines you want.

Break Free from traditional, restrictive, proprietary telephone systems that imprison you with their software, their hardware, their support, and their problems.  Take control of what you want and how you want to communicate with Amanda *Star PBX.

Portal

Amanda Portal is our premier telecom solution that integrates various communication and messaging methods onto a single platform.  It combines the award winning Amanda voice mail system with the flexibility of our legacy token programming language and extends the capabilities with an Internet oriented command language.

With Amanda Portal you get much more than a voice mail system with unified messaging, you also get the most popular telecom applications that we have developed for Portal.  And of course, all of them can be easily customized to integrate with your company's data systems to match your business processes and streamline your customer experiences.  All of the following applications are included:

Amanda CallQ Agent is a desktop ACD that allows your customers to contact your company by telephone, e-mail, voice mail, or fax and integrates all those different methods of contact into a single point of access for any number of your employees.  This powerful application will instantly increase the productivity of all your employees and their ability to respond to your customer needs.  Your agents may be in your office, telecommuting, or on the road in their hotel room.  Your customer's contact experience will be seemless, independant of where or how they reach your team.  To experience Amanda CallQ ACD, please use our live demo.

The Message Blaster application allows you to easily record a message that can be mass distributed to a list of telephone numbers.  This application is widely used in schools and other organizations for situations that require fast verbal notification of a situation such as a closure or emergency.

Market Blaster is a web-based application that allows a company to define an unlimited number of campaigns for outbound calling. Campaigns may be scheduled by date, day, time, and even availability of agents, giving you greater control of when outbound calling occurs - especially in the case of agent availability - so, if during a campaign all agents are busy, outbound calling stops until an agent becomes free!  You also have control of what actions to take based on the result of a call, for example, if a person answers you can define a specific message to play, give menu options to select, or execute any custom applications.  And for answering machines, you can define a different message to play, execute a custom application, or simply hang-up.  There are options for all call results, including ring-no-answer, busy, and fax machines.  More details on configuration options may be found by reviewing our Setup and Usage Guide.
